Discover the Beauty of Bukhansan National Park: Jeongneung to Daeseongmun Route - Seoul Hiking

Here’s a captivating  hiking in Bukhansan National Park, which I took a hiking with friends from Philadelphia.

One of the most rewarding routes starts at "Jeongneung Exploration Center" and leads to "Daeseongmun Gate".

This trail is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in Korea’s natural beauty while exploring historical treasures along the way.

Why We Chose This Route?

Bukhansan National Park offers numerous hiking routes. While we could have chosen a different path, we selected this one after carefully considering various factors.

  1. Easy Accessibility: Jeongneung Exploration Center is conveniently located, making it an excellent starting point for hikers.

  2. Scenic Beauty: The route takes you through lush forests, rocky peaks, and panoramic viewpoints offering stunning views of Seoul.

  3. Historical Landmarks: Along the trail, you’ll encounter ancient fortress gates like Daeseongmun, a well-preserved part of Korea’s historic mountain fortifications.

Trail Highlights

  1. Jeongneung Exploration Center: Begin your journey at this well-equipped starting point, where you can gather information and prepare for the hike.

  2. Serene Forest Paths: As you ascend, you’ll pass through peaceful woodlands filled with seasonal beauty—vibrant autumn foliage, refreshing spring blossoms, or crisp winter landscapes.

  3. Daeseongmun Gate: The highlight of the trail, this grand stone gate once played a crucial role in protecting Seoul’s northern boundary. Standing at its historic archway feels like stepping back in time.

We had a wonderful time and highly recommend experiencing 'Hiking in Seoul.' Beyond Bukhansan National Park, there are many beautiful mountains and trails to explore.

However, keep these important things in mind.
